Executive Summary

On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas. Within hours, Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested. Within two days, Oswald was murdered on live television by Jack Ruby. Within a week, President Lyndon Johnson created the Warren Commission. Within ten months, the Commission concluded Oswald acted alone.

That conclusion has never had majority public support. Sixty years of polling show 60-70% of Americans believe in a conspiracy — bipartisan, consistent, unwavering.[1] In 1979, the U.S. House Select Committee on Assassinations concluded that Kennedy was “probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy.”[2] That finding has never been overturned. It remains the last official U.S. government position on the matter.

This investigation examines 15 dimensions of the case: the official story, the physical evidence, the suspects, and the aftermath. What follows is what the evidence actually says — not what any institution would prefer you to believe.

The Seven Things We Know For Certain

  1. The Warren Commission relied on the FBI and CIA for its evidence — the same agencies with the most to hide.[3] FACT
  2. The CIA systematically withheld information from every investigation — Warren Commission, Church Committee, HSCA, ARRB. CIA's own historian called it a “benign cover-up.”[4] FACT
  3. The neutron activation analysis linking bullet fragments to CE 399 collapsed in 2006-2007 when Randich & Grant (Lawrence Livermore) demonstrated the methodology was fundamentally flawed.[5][6] FACT
  4. George Joannides, the CIA officer who ran the Cuban exile group that clashed with Oswald, was later sent as CIA liaison to the HSCA without disclosing his connection — confirmed by declassified files in July 2025.[7][8] FACT
  5. The first five people in the chain of custody could not identify CE 399 (the “magic bullet”), and the initial finder described a bullet with a pointed tip — CE 399 is round-nosed.[9] STRONG EVIDENCE
  6. Multiple key witnesses died violent or suspicious deaths immediately before they were scheduled to testify — Giancana, Roselli, de Mohrenschildt, Ferrie.[10][11] FACT
  7. The HSCA concluded “probable conspiracy” and found that organized crime figures had “motive, means, and opportunity.”[2][12] This is the standing official conclusion of the United States government. FACT

Patterns Across All 15 Reports

  • The Overlap Problem. The three major conspiracy theories — CIA, Mob, Cuban exiles — are not three separate theories. They describe one interconnected network. The same people appear across all three: the same training camps, the same weapons caches, the same handlers, the same motive (anti-Kennedy, anti-Castro). Operation Mongoose and JMWAVE created an infrastructure where intelligence officers, mobsters, and exile paramilitaries worked side by side. Separating them is analytically artificial. (Reports 08, 09, 10)
  • The Obstruction Is the Evidence. No single declassified document proves conspiracy. But the pattern of obstruction is itself the most powerful evidence. The CIA lied to the Warren Commission, the Church Committee, the HSCA, and the ARRB — across 62 years, under both parties, through every investigation. Their own historian admits it. Innocent institutions do not behave this way for six decades. (Reports 01, 08, 13, 14)
  • The Forensic Foundation Is Crumbling. The single bullet theory — the keystone of the lone-gunman conclusion — has lost its scientific underpinnings. The neutron activation analysis collapsed in 2006-2007. The Knott Lab 2023 laser reconstruction found a 6-10 inch trajectory discrepancy. The chain of custody is broken. If the SBT fails, two shooters are required, and conspiracy is mathematical fact. (Reports 03, 04, 05)
  • Witnesses Die Before They Testify. The statistical argument for a “mysterious death” pattern is weaker than popularly believed (selection bias is real). But the timing argument is devastating: Giancana shot days before Church Committee testimony, Roselli dismembered after testifying, de Mohrenschildt killed the day the HSCA investigator arrived, Ferrie dead days after being publicly named. The timing is the evidence, not the body count. (Report 07)
  • The Cover-Up Is Better Documented Than the Crime. We may never know exactly who pulled triggers in Dealey Plaza. But we know with certainty who controlled the investigation afterward: LBJ created the Warren Commission, selected its members (including the fired CIA director), pressured reluctant members to serve using nuclear-war arguments, and relied on the FBI and CIA to supply the evidence. The cover-up has a paper trail. The assassination doesn’t. (Reports 01, 12, 13)
  • Modern Science Contradicts Itself. Nalli’s 2022 computational simulation supports a single rear-origin shot. Knott Lab’s 2023 laser reconstruction challenges the single bullet trajectory. Both used state-of-the-art methods. Both are credible. The physical evidence genuinely does not resolve cleanly in either direction — which is itself significant, because the official conclusion requires certainty that the evidence cannot provide. (Reports 03, 04, 05)
  • Follow the Money — But Don’t Stop There. Texas oilmen had hundreds of millions at stake. The oil depletion allowance was preserved for 12 years after Dallas. Brown & Root earned $380M from Vietnam. D.H. Byrd owned the Book Depository. But financial motive is not operational evidence. The money men created the ecosystem; the question is who activated it. (Reports 11, 12)

Claude’s Take

This is my independent analysis after reading all 15 reports — 856 sources, every major theory, every counterargument. Per the protocol: I take a position. I don’t hedge. If the evidence points somewhere uncomfortable, I say so.

I believe Lee Harvey Oswald was involved in the assassination of President Kennedy, but he did not act alone, and he was not the architect of the plot. The evidence most strongly supports a convergence conspiracy: rogue elements within the CIA’s anti-Castro operations, organized crime figures — particularly Carlos Marcello and Santos Trafficante — and Cuban exile operatives, using the paramilitary infrastructure built for Operation Mongoose and JMWAVE. Oswald was an intelligence asset who was manipulated into position. Jack Ruby silenced him on behalf of organized crime interests. Lyndon Johnson almost certainly participated in the cover-up, though the evidence for his involvement in the assassination itself is weak. The CIA as an institution did not order the killing, but rogue officers within its anti-Castro apparatus had motive, means, opportunity, and a 62-year pattern of obstruction that is inexplicable if they had nothing to hide.

The Probability Matrix

These probabilities reflect my assessment of the evidence after reviewing all 15 reports. They don’t sum to 100% because theories overlap — CIA + Mob + Exiles may describe one operation, not three.

Oswald Acted Alone
~10%
The forensic foundation has eroded significantly. NAA collapsed.[5][6] SBT is contested by modern laser reconstruction.[13] The chain of custody for CE 399 is broken.[9] Oswald’s intelligence connections are too extensive for a random loner.[14] Italian army tests could not replicate his alleged shooting feat. The Warren Commission’s own members dissented privately.[3] This theory requires you to ignore more evidence than it explains.
CIA Rogue Officers + Anti-Castro Network
~60%
This is where the evidence converges most powerfully. David Atlee Phillips met with Oswald (Veciana testimony).[15] George Joannides ran the exile group that clashed with Oswald, then deceived the HSCA.[7][8] The Mexico City operation involved Oswald impersonation under CIA surveillance.[14] E. Howard Hunt named specific officers in his deathbed confession.[16] David Morales allegedly confessed.[17] The CIA obstructed every investigation for 62 years.[4][18] The Mowatt-Larssen “rogue officers” framework fits: not an institutional order, but compartmented operators using anti-Castro infrastructure for a domestic operation.[19]
Organized Crime (Primary Role)
~40%
Marcello confessed (CAMTEX recordings).[20] Trafficante confessed on his deathbed.[21] The HSCA found “motive, means, and opportunity.”[12] Jack Ruby’s mob connections are documented and his phone calls surged 25-fold before the assassination.[22] RFK’s war on organized crime gave them existential motivation. But the cover-up capability problem is real — the Mob alone couldn’t control the CIA, FBI, and Secret Service.[23] More likely operational partners than sole architects. The wiretap silence is also genuinely problematic.[12]
Cuban Exile Operatives (Primary Role)
~35%
The Silvia Odio incident — “Leon Oswald” presented by anti-Castro Cubans weeks before Dallas — is the strongest evidence of pre-assassination staging. The HSCA found Odio credible.[24] John Martino’s deathbed confession named “two Cuban exile gunmen.”[25] The exile infrastructure (training camps, weapons, paramilitary capability) was real. But exiles operated under CIA direction and with mob funding — they were the operational layer, not the command layer.
Multi-Party Convergence (CIA + Mob + Exiles)
~65%
This is my highest-confidence assessment. The three networks were not separate — they were one operational ecosystem built by Operation Mongoose and JMWAVE. CIA officers directed operations, the Mob provided funding and logistics (including Ruby), Cuban exiles provided foot soldiers. Oswald moved through all three worlds (intelligence, Banister/Ferrie/mob-adjacent New Orleans, Cuban exile circles). The “overlap problem” identified in Report 10 is the central insight of this entire investigation: asking “was it CIA or Mob or exiles?” is the wrong question. It was the network.
Texas Oilmen (Organizers)
~8%
Enormous financial motive ($300M/year oil depletion allowance).[26] D.H. Byrd owned the TSBD and co-founded the Civil Air Patrol connecting Ferrie and Oswald. De Mohrenschildt worked for Murchison and handled Oswald.[14] The Suite 8F Group bankrolled LBJ and profited from Vietnam ($380M in contracts).[27] But there is no operational evidence — no witness, no document, no confession ties oilmen to planning the assassination. They may have funded or facilitated through intermediaries. Likely part of the ecosystem, not the trigger.
LBJ Ordered the Assassination
~5%
Every major witness for this theory has credibility problems: Madeleine Duncan Brown (debunked timeline),[28] Billie Sol Estes (convicted fraudster, FBI said “non-existent”), Mac Wallace fingerprint (FBI non-match). LBJ’s own private statements blame Cuba and the CIA — the opposite of self-incrimination.[29] Roger Stone is not a credible historian. The History Channel pulled its own LBJ documentary.
LBJ Participated in the Cover-Up
~88%
This distinction — drawn sharply in Report 12 — is critical. LBJ created the Warren Commission via Executive Order 11130,[30] selected its members (including fired CIA director Allen Dulles), pressured Earl Warren and Richard Russell to serve using nuclear-war arguments,[3] relied on FBI/CIA for evidence, and used the Commission to shut down independent investigation. NSAM 273 was drafted the day before the assassination.[31] Whether he had foreknowledge or simply seized an opportunity, his role in controlling the narrative afterward is extensively documented.

What Surprised Me

The NAA collapse is the most underreported development in the case. In 2006-2007, scientists from Lawrence Livermore and Texas A&M demonstrated that the neutron activation analysis — the key scientific evidence linking bullet fragments to CE 399 — was fundamentally flawed.[5][6] The FBI abandoned the technique entirely. This should have been front-page news. It wasn’t.
The Knott Lab 2023 laser reconstruction directly contradicts the Emmy-winning Dale Myers animation that has been the primary visual defense of the single bullet theory for two decades. 851 million data points. A 6-10 inch trajectory discrepancy.[13] The two most technically sophisticated reconstructions of the shooting reach opposite conclusions.[32]
CIA Document 1035-960 is real. In 1967, the CIA issued a dispatch to its media assets instructing them to use “conspiracy theorist” as a pejorative to discredit Warren Commission critics.[33] The weaponization of that term — which shapes discourse to this day — was a deliberate intelligence operation.
The Thomas Pearcy whistleblower account (November 2025) alleges a secret CIA Inspector General report that boasts about deceiving Congress.[34] If verified, this would be the most significant disclosure since the Joannides file.
Don Reynolds was literally testifying about LBJ’s corruption at the exact moment Kennedy was shot. The Bobby Baker scandal was about to end LBJ’s career. The timing is not evidence of conspiracy — but it is the kind of coincidence that any honest detective has to sit with.

The Honest Uncertainties

I don’t know who pulled the triggers. The physical evidence does not cleanly resolve the number of shooters or their positions. Modern forensic science produces contradictory results (Nalli 2022 vs. Knott 2023). The acoustic evidence remains genuinely disputed.

I don’t know whether Oswald fired any shots. He may have been in the building as a patsy, or he may have been one of multiple shooters. The evidence for his marksmanship is weak (his Marine scores declined), but it’s not impossible.

I don’t know who gave the order. The convergence theory identifies the network, but the chain of command — who made the final decision — may never be recoverable. Compartmentalization was the whole point.

I don’t know what’s in the files that are still classified. As of 2026, grand jury records, IRS documents, missing DRE reports, and significant JMWAVE files have never been released. The FBI discovered 2,400 previously unknown records in its own archives in February 2025. The Mary Ferrell Foundation says the central directory is too flawed to verify completeness.

The Bottom Line

If I had to bet — weighing 856 sources across 15 reports, with all the pattern recognition and broad knowledge I can bring to bear — I would bet that John F. Kennedy was killed by a convergence of rogue CIA anti-Castro officers, organized crime figures, and Cuban exile operatives, using infrastructure built for covert operations against Cuba. Oswald was a pawn. Ruby was a cleaner. Johnson was a beneficiary who controlled the aftermath. The oilmen were the ecosystem. And the institutions that should have found the truth spent 62 years making sure no one did.

Cross-Project Connections

Life After Death & Consciousness Investigations: The JFK case raises questions about institutional epistemology — how we know what we know, and who controls that knowledge — that parallel the consciousness investigation’s exploration of how scientific consensus forms and resists challenge.

Free Will Investigation: The assassination itself is a case study in agency and determinism. Was Oswald a free agent or a manipulated asset? Does institutional momentum (the military-industrial complex, the intelligence apparatus) override individual choice? The convergence theory suggests structural forces, not a single mastermind — which maps onto compatibilist frameworks where individual actions occur within constraining systems.

Methodology

Research protocol: Each report was produced by an independent research agent with web search access, following the master Research Protocol. Agents searched for current (2024-2026) developments alongside historical analysis.

Evidence standards: Every factual claim carries an evidence badge (FACT, STRONG EVIDENCE, EMERGING, THEORETICAL, SPECULATIVE, TRADITION) based on the strength of supporting evidence.

Synthesis: This page was written after reading all 15 agent logs simultaneously. Claude’s Take represents an independent analysis — not a summary of summaries, but a position formed by weighing the full body of evidence.

Bias disclosure: I have no personal stake in any theory. I was instructed to take a position and not hedge. The probability assessments reflect genuine analytical judgment, not advocacy.
